Nan Tian Kong : Koh Teng (Lamps on bamboo pole)

These lamps are carefully attended to in full of ceremonial grandeur throughout the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. Very few worshipers know the real significance of these lamps save a few speculations here and there. Perhaps these lamps represent the presence of the Nine Emperor Gods.

The lamps are attended to with a rhythmical beating of the gong.

At the other end of the pole, an attendant holds on to the pole so that it remains aloft, not touching the ground.
