Spirit medium at Cheng Kon Tze

It's pure luck to be able to witness the spirit medium at work at this temple. I never had the chance to witness this during my previous visits.  He recites his verses of blessings in a peculiar language.

Cheng Kon Sze a.k.a Cheng Kuan Soo, Paya Terubong, Penang

Cheng Kuan Soo or its official name, Cheng Kon Tze is a Taoist temple dedicated to Tao Boo and her sons, the Nine Emperor Gods. It is located on a hill surrounded by plantations. In respect for the sanctity of this temple, those who intend to hike up to the temple during the Nine Emperor Gods Festival must go on a vegetarian fast and abstain from uttering inauspicious words.

The journey of faith uphill ((Cheng Kon Tze, Penang))

These devotees carry giant joss sticks to a temple uphill, Cheng Kon Tze, Penang, to be offered to the Nine Emperor Gods. They carry 33 giant joss sticks uphill every year to be offered to the Nine Emperor Gods in conjunction with the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. I was privileged to be able to join them in their journey of faith today. May all be blessed!!!

The yellow turtle buns of Kepala Batas Tow Boo Keong

The Kepala Batas Tow Boo Keong is well-known for its yellow turtle buns. They sell like hot cakes during the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. They are so in demand that one can find people queuing up even before the buns come out from the steamers!
